About this project
Lauded ‘The musical mayor of the city’ by Downbeat, Sylwester Ostrowski is a versatile man. He crafts collaborations, composes music, presents and supports young musicians, founded an art school, and then somehow finds the time to live life as a touring musician.
Perhaps one of the most fascinating projects so far is A Night in Anzio in July 2021, where we invited journalists (Downbeat, All About Jazz US & IT to name a few) and celebrated a unique collaboration between Poland, The Netherlands, Russia, the US, and, of course, Italy. It was a unique celebration of friendship in jazz, and quite possibly my favorite trip that year.
In 2022, we invited a wide selection of promoters to the incredible La Paloma Ballroom in Barcelona, presenting another collaboration; with JAZZ I AM and Taller de Musics this time, adopting artists from Venezuela, Spain, France, the US, Poland, and Argentina.
The Jazz Brigade
An attentive viewer will spot a couple of the same musicians on stage with Ostrowski, whom together form The Jazz Brigade; a band founded by bandleader Ostrowski and star trumpeter and soloist Freddie Hendrix, joined by rising star Jakub ‘Mizer’ Mizeracki on guitar, Japanese Grammy nominee Miki Hayama on piano, groove machine Owen Hart Jr. on drums, and Art Blakey’s last bassist Essiet Okon Essiet.
They tour consistently and will present their upcoming album in Poland, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, and Italy in 2022.
