About this project

I lost count of the amount of times I’ve written the line “We’ve not been in touch before, but my name is Arlette, I’m a publicist with Jazzfuel. Nice to meet you!” but honestly, it’s worth it every time. Especially when I get a nice reply from a fellow jazz enthusiast!

At JF, I learned how to promote jazz releases. I stayed with Matt Fripp and his team for 3 years, and while it wasn’t always easy – growth never is – I am grateful to him and his team for opening my eyes to the ridiculous amount of love I have for jazz PR. Jazzfuel operates globally, where That Jazz Girl focuses on Europe with occasional trips into Oceania or Asia, and while TJG is very (almost neurotically, some may say) boutique and one-on-one, Jazzfuel has grown into a pretty major hub for jazz education and artist support. I’m proud of them for that, and so thankful for my first-ever reviews with Downbeat, Jazz Japan, Bass Magazine, and so many others.

We still occasionally refer artists to one another, and maintain a good relationship both as peers and as people.
